At a time where music has becom repetitive, lacking originality, and radio has grown boring the Pistol Wips strive to bring rock music a refreshing dose of energy.  The Pistol Wips, based out of Long Island, NY, have been at it since late 1996.  The band, as best described, combines mulitple aspects of rock n' roll, with synth-power pop and energetic punk rock.  They give off the raw, intense style of Nirvana, while the music itself has similiarities ranging from Weezer, the Rentals, Elvis Costello, Foo Fighters, Faith No More, and Far. 

Their raw, original style has put them in a category as one of the most respected, underground rock bands in Long Island.  Catching a live set of the PW's will easily "speed up your pulse" and have you singing along with the anthem-like songs even if it is your first PW show.  They'll have you humming their catchy songs in your head for weeks.

The PW's have graced the stages of some of the finest venues on the east coast.  They have played  shows at the world famous CBGB, the Pyramid Club in NYC, the Downtime, Union Square Lounge, UltraSound Lounge, Dublin Pub, an in store performance at Sam Goody, and many many more.  They have rocked record label showcases and recieved excellent reviews by Sony, and Wind-Up Records. They have played with many national acts, and hundreds of great local bands throughout their existance.  One band they've played with are actually one of their idols, Nada Surf. Other bands consist of Rilo Kiley, Ozma, theStart, Moneen, As Tall As Lions, the Kites, the Reunion Show, Pretty Polly, the Confidentials, and many more. 

What captivates most people when hearing the Pistol Wips is their honesty and originality.  One can easily tell that the PW's are playing music that they love.  They are playing what's true to their hearts, they aren't doing this in a poor attempt at copying what's already out there.  It is clear that they are NOT following any trends and trying to fit into a scene that will, most likely, be over in a few short years.
